Welcome to Sunday School at St. Agnes
St. Agnes Parish offers a Sunday school program for children ages 3 to 8 years of age written specifically for our community. Our program is rooted in the weekly gospel reading and includes introductory prayers based on the Liturgy of the Word, a reflection on the gospel, songs, crafts, games and prayer experiences.
Schedule:
Our Sunday School program is held on the first and third Sunday of each month during the 9:00 a.m. Holy Mass. Children are requested to arrive for 8:50 a.m. please.
Sunday School Program highlights:
On a Sunday School day, the children gather in our parish centre with their teachers at 8:50 a.m. Our celebration begins with a Liturgy of the Word including our opening song, the lighting of our candle, the sign of the cross, a penitential song, the Gloria, Alleluia and gospel. Then the children go with their Sunday school teachers into their age appropriate rooms – 3-4 year olds and 5-9 year olds. As a group, they reflect on the message of the gospel and take part in activities that reinforce the message. The children come upstairs after the Prayers of the Faithful. A few children are chosen to take up the Offertory gifts followed by the rest of the children. With their teachers, they sit together at the front of the church for the Eucharistic prayer, the Our Father and the sign of peace. After sharing Christ’s peace with one another, the children join their parents. Following Holy Mass, the children come downstairs to pick up any work sheets, crafts or colouring pages that were part of the program.

Children’s Liturgy
What’s happening on the alternate weeks to Sunday School?
Our Children’s Mass is held at 9:00 a.m. on the alternating weeks to Sunday School (the second and last Sunday’s). The Children’s Mass is a great time to introduce your children to the many ways they can be a more active participant in the celebration – as a reader, gift bearer, petitioner, choir member, or altar server, once they have made their First Holy Communion. This Mass is a vibrant celebration featuring our outstanding children’s choir with children participating in lead roles throughout. We invite you to join us and experience the joy of a St. Agnes Children’s Mass.
